Get Your Popcorn Ready In November!

Let the countdown continue! I am definitely anticipating November.
Here's why: (Dates are tentative)

Here is the trailer for American Gangster starring Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, Josh Brolin, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Carla Gugino, T.I. and RZA. In case you didn't know, this movie depicts the story of detectives working to bring down the drug empire of Frank Lucas, played by Denzel Washington. The movie takes place in Harlem during the 70's.

The story of Frank Lucas also premiers on B.E.T's series "American Gangsters" October 31. Check out this link for more info.. PR Newswire: Frank Lucas, the Real Life 'American Gangster,' ... . Here's a picture of the real Frank Lucas.

And of course...after coming out of "retirement" Jay-Z is dropping his "American Gangster" album (-said not to be a soundtrack to the movie. See- NY Times.com article, "For Jay-Z, Inspiration Arrives in a Movie ) Pharrell, Kanye West, and Timbaland are said to have worked on the album with the Jigga-man. The "Blue Magic" track is from this album. Pharrell singing En Vogue's "Hold On" as the hook brought me back to the 90s! I like Jay's verse,"Blame Reagan for making me into a monster/Blame Oliver North and Iran-Contra/I ran contraband that they sponsored/Before this rhyme stuff, we was in concert." Yet at the end of the day I'm not as big of a fan of this song as I am of older Jay-Z tracks. I'm gonna wait and see what his album delivers when it drops on November 6th. Aside from The Best of Both Worlds, I have not been disappointed. Stay tuned.........

I'm also looking forward to Hi-Tek's latest album Hi-Teknology, Vol 3: Underground. I hope you didn't sleep on Vol. 2. If Vol. 3 is anything like Vol. 2 , oooooh weeeee, I'm going to be a happy hip-hop head. My favorite track off Vol. 2 was Where It Started At (NY) - (featuring Dion/Jadakiss/Papoose/Talib Kweli/Raekwon). That song was bananas. Reminded of a modern day version of Wu-Tang's Triumph (Wu-Tang Forever). Let It Go - (featuring Dion/Talib Kweli) is one of those mellow tracks that you can lounge out to! Music For Life - (featuring J Dilla/Nas/Busta Rhymes/Marsha Ambrosius) is another hot track. I love the beats and the vocals. Ms. Marsha Ambrosius did her thing, as always, to give that poetic feel to the track.
